Job Title: Shift Manager
Grade: PE07
Purpose of the role:
The Shift Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the crew and production activities during their shift. Utilizing knowledge of product functions, IMS methodology, standard operating procedures, and machine capabilities, they ensure that operations run smoothly and efficiently. This role provides leadership and direction, managing production processes, materials, equipment, and tools to meet production targets and maintain schedules. The Shift Manager is committed to optimizing PTM, enhancing safety, and minimizing unplanned downtime, breakdowns, and HFIs through continuous improvement initiatives, technology, and collaboration with key stakeholders.

- Ensure a safe and clean work environment by guiding employees in the proper use of tools, equipment, and resources, while ensuring adherence to Isanti Glass safety standards and Golden Rules.
- Maintain compliance with EHS regulations and Isanti guidelines to meet quality expectations for both customers and the company.
- Collaborate with the EHS Team to promote and enforce a strong safety culture in daily operations.
- Identify training and development opportunities for production team, monitoring their progress against key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Manage workforce planning to ensure appropriate staffing levels, and eradicating inefficiencies of absenteeism and overtime.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives, monitor control procedures, and recommend enhancements to the Production Manager as needed.
- Ensure all Isanti objectives and customer commitments—such as safety, reliability and profitability, are met within the plant.
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to better understand overall business goals and objectives.
- Work closely with the Warehouse team to ensure on-time, in-full delivery of production as per the demand plan, ensuring high customer service levels.
- Maintain a positive working relationship with the workforce.
- Implement IMS methodologies to drive continuous improvement in PTM and Availability, aligning with the KPIs, including deployment of AM projects and use of basic tools.
- Identify Capital Investment Projects necessary to achieve KPIs.
- Conduct one-on-one performance reviews and participate in team reviews to assess and improve team performance.
- Hold the team accountable while demonstrating generosity and courage where needed.
- Lead, coach, and develop direct reports to enhance their capabilities, commitment, drive, and performance, aligning with organizational objectives and strategies.
- Foster an environment of trust, open communication, innovation, and proactive behaviour.
- Ensure adherence to Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety requirements across the production.
Key Competencies:
- 5 years’ experience in Production or Process discipline in a continuous process manufacturing environment.
- 3 years’ experience in a management/leadership role.
- Computer Literacy: MS Office; JDE & IQ-scan
- Use of Web based data management systems
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Application of IMS principles in Improvement Projects
- Application of 5s Improvement Projects for the shift
- Application of basic tools (OPLs, SOPs, HFI, etc.)
- Knowledge of and can work within ISO9000 ISO14000 and OSHAS18000 systems.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree (BSC, B.Eng. Chemical / Electrical / Industrial / Mechanical)
- Any Lean Methodology certification
