Job Title:             Procurement Manager

Purpose of the role:

Reporting to the CFO, the role exists in order to lead the company’s procurement process from selecting suppliers, ensuring stock optimisation, and guiding the company on sourcing and purchasing processes

The successful candidate will have a strong track record of establishing, implementing and evaluating effective procurement standards, managing spend, delivering earned value, ensuring quality control and adherence to the company’s procurement rules

  • Formulate procurement strategy in alignment with company goals, and drive its implementation
  • Identify procurement risks which may impact the business and implement mitigations to reduce/eliminate them as appropriate
  • Diagnose existing constraints and problems and establish solutions to address them
  • Lead the company’s preferential procurement, supplier and enterprise development initiatives to facilitate the company’s BEE objectives
  • Establish and manage the procurement budget
  • Lead pricing and payment terms discussions with suppliers, in collaboration with relevant internal stakeholders
  • Establish and maintain governance and controls aimed at optimising supplier management, purchasing, and stock management activities
  • Oversee the company’s tender processes
  • Initiate and implement procurement projects as necessary
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment at all times
  • Continuously evaluate procurement processes and performance, and implement improvements
  • Management reporting

Qualifications & Experience:

  • B degree or equivalent
  • Supply Chain Management/Procurement certification advantageous
  • At least 8 years procurement experience
  • At least 3 years’ experience leading procurement teams with a proven track record of delivering leadership outcomes
  • Experience in manufacturing/heavy industry
