Job Title:            LEHR Inspector

Grade:                PE12

 

Purpose of the Role:

To contribute to the production of quality bottles by conducting prescribed visual and electronic quality inspections with a view to proactively identifying defects and addressing them in line with established rules. on the production line and processing limit samples

  • Conduct prescribed inspections in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality standards and policies
    •  Visual inspections at light screens
    •  Hot and cold end coating checks
    •  Pressure and dimension measurements
    •  Cavity checks, including gauging, physical and dimensional
    •  Routine sample challenges on automatic inspection equipment
  • Check computer monitors on an ongoing basis for findings and types of defects being rejected by automatic equipment
  • Check cullet belts for type of defects being rejected
  • Hold defective ware and issue non-conformance as necessary
  • Inspect defective ware, reporting and escalating as necessary, as well as initiating culletting and dumping in line with rules
  • Save defect samples for evaluation in line with company procedures
  • Review job cards, customer complaints, limit samples and quality reports to educate yourself on quality requirements
  • Ensure proper operation of inspection equipment and take action as prescribed in terms of established rules
  • Clean equipment and tools in area of responsibility
  • Escalate unresolved equipment and defect problems to facilitate speedy resolution
  • Participate in problem solving
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Participate in the plant process optimisation initiatives

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Good eyesight
  • Grade 12 (NQF4)
  • At least 2 years’ experience in FMCG or Manufacturing
  • Glass manufacturing experience will be advantageous
