Job Title: LEHR Inspector
Grade: PE12
Purpose of the Role:
To contribute to the production of quality bottles by conducting prescribed visual and electronic quality inspections with a view to proactively identifying defects and addressing them in line with established rules. on the production line and processing limit samples

- Conduct prescribed inspections in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality standards and policies
- Visual inspections at light screens
- Hot and cold end coating checks
- Pressure and dimension measurements
- Cavity checks, including gauging, physical and dimensional
- Routine sample challenges on automatic inspection equipment
- Check computer monitors on an ongoing basis for findings and types of defects being rejected by automatic equipment
- Check cullet belts for type of defects being rejected
- Hold defective ware and issue non-conformance as necessary
- Inspect defective ware, reporting and escalating as necessary, as well as initiating culletting and dumping in line with rules
- Save defect samples for evaluation in line with company procedures
- Review job cards, customer complaints, limit samples and quality reports to educate yourself on quality requirements
- Ensure proper operation of inspection equipment and take action as prescribed in terms of established rules
- Clean equipment and tools in area of responsibility
- Escalate unresolved equipment and defect problems to facilitate speedy resolution
- Participate in problem solving
- Identify and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement
- Participate in the plant process optimisation initiatives
Minimum Requirements
- Good eyesight
- Grade 12 (NQF4)
- At least 2 years’ experience in FMCG or Manufacturing
- Glass manufacturing experience will be advantageous
