Forming Process Specialist

Purpose of the Role:
To provide technical forming process subject matter expertise to optimise the glass forming process, identify & facilitate the implementation of improvements, enhance quality, and contribute to the improvement of production efficiencies

• Contribute advanced forming technical expertise:
  • Contribute to the establishment of long term strategies for improving the forming process to enable the achievement of performance goals
  • Investigate causes of lower performing jobs & recommend improvements
  • Provide technical support in the use and setup of forming process control systems
  • Monitor mould equipment and abnormal wear relating to process and setup issues on IS machine mechanisms and the forehearth
  • Quality check and oversee job changes and provide advanced technical assistance in the job change start-up and stabilisation process to optimize job change performance
  • Analyse forming process data points continuously and recommend changes to improve process stability and efficiency
  • Coordinate and manage process changes through the Management of Change (MOC)
  • Analyse basic forming process data points, as necessary
  • Coordinate project/trial implementation for the plant and recommend improvements as necessary
  • Inspect tools from active production lines daily for issues with appearance and defects, assist with corrective action and report issues to appropriate stakeholders
  • Conduct daily checks against the standard checklist; reporting any variations and/or issues found 7 taking corrective action in line with company rules
• Asset management
  • Establish resource needs within area of responsibility
  • Request required assets & resources to fulfil work duties
  • Use assets & resources optimally within area of responsibility
  • Comply with modification control procedures and management of change (MoC processes)
  • Monitor the use of assets and resources
• Maintain healthy stakeholder relationships
  • Communicate with all relevant departments on issues of the area of speciality
  • Communicate with internal and/or external stakeholders as necessary to achieve work objectives and to maintain relationships

Qualifications & Experience:

• National Diploma (mechanical/Industrial/chemical/electrical) or equivalent
• At least 5 years relevant experience
• Process engineering experience will be advantageous
